Design that means something

Your website is often the first impression your business makes. We design custom websites that speak directly to your audience — built around your brand, your goals, and the people you're trying to reach.

Design

No templates. No shortcuts. Just the right design.

A great website isn't just about looking good — it's about looking right. The design language of a corporate financial services firm needs to communicate trust, stability, and authority. The design language of an e-commerce brand targeting 20-year-olds needs to be bold, energetic, and effortlessly cool. These are not the same website, and they shouldn't be. We take the time to understand your world before we draw a single line.

Understanding your business first

Who is your audience?

We start by building a clear picture of who your customers are — their age, values, expectations, and how they make decisions. A retiree researching a financial planner and a university student buying streetwear have completely different needs, and your website needs to meet them where they are.

What action do you want them to take?

Every page on your website should guide visitors toward a specific goal — booking a call, making a purchase, filling in a contact form, or downloading a resource. We map out these conversion paths before design begins so the final product is purposeful, not just pretty.

What does your brand stand for?

We dig into your brand values, tone of voice, existing identity assets, and competitive landscape. If you have a brand guide we follow it precisely. If your brand needs sharpening, we can help define it before design begins — ensuring every visual decision reinforces who you are.

What do your competitors look like?

We research your competitive landscape to understand what's working in your industry and where the opportunities are to stand out. The goal isn't to copy what everyone else is doing — it's to position you clearly above it.

Design that fits your world

Corporate & professional

Financial services, legal, medical, and B2B businesses need a website that projects authority and builds trust instantly. Clean layouts, restrained typography, confident use of white space, and a tone that says "we know what we're doing." Nothing flashy — everything deliberate.

E-commerce & consumer brands

Retail, fashion, lifestyle, and direct-to-consumer brands need energy. Bold typography, strong imagery, fast-moving design that reflects the brand's personality. The checkout experience needs to feel frictionless and the product needs to be the hero on every page.

Local service businesses

Tradies, healthcare providers, hospitality, and local retailers need a website that feels approachable and trustworthy. Clear contact information, social proof through reviews and testimonials, and a design that reflects the local community they serve.

Creative & portfolio

Photographers, architects, designers, and creative agencies need a site that gets out of the way and lets the work speak. Minimal UI, immersive imagery, and a design sensibility that signals you understand good craft.

Built in code. Consistent by design.

Custom-coded themes

Every website we design is built as a bespoke custom theme — not a pre-built template with your logo dropped in. This means your typography, colour palette, spacing, button styles, and component library are consistent across every single page, because they're defined once in the code and applied everywhere.

Brand identity protected

Templates are designed to be flexible — which means they're compromised from the start. A custom theme is designed exclusively for you, which means every colour, font size, and layout decision reinforces your brand rather than working against it. Your business looks as professional online as it does in person.

Leaner, faster code

Off-the-shelf themes are bloated with features you'll never use, which slows your site down and creates security vulnerabilities. A custom-coded theme contains only what your site actually needs — resulting in faster load times, better SEO performance, and a cleaner codebase to maintain.

Our design process

1

Discovery workshop

We spend time with you understanding your business, your audience, your goals, and your brand. We ask a lot of questions — because the more we understand your world, the better the design outcome.

2

Mood board & direction

Before we design a single page we present visual direction options — colour palettes, typography combinations, reference styles, and overall aesthetic approach. You choose the direction that feels right for your brand and audience.

3

Wireframes & layout

We map out the structure and hierarchy of each key page — what appears where, in what order, and why. Layout decisions are driven by user behaviour and conversion goals, not aesthetic preference alone.

4

Full visual design

Full-fidelity page designs are presented for your review and feedback. We refine until the design is exactly right — then and only then does development begin.

5

Custom theme development

The approved design is coded as a custom theme — every component, style, and interaction built precisely to spec. The result is a website that matches the design pixel-for-pixel and performs flawlessly across all devices.

6

Review, refine & launch

You review the built site, we incorporate any final feedback, and then we launch together. Post-launch, we monitor performance and are on hand to make adjustments as your business evolves.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about our custom website design process.

A template is a pre-built design that was created for a generic business and adapted to fit yours. The layout, structure, and visual decisions were made without any knowledge of your audience or goals. A custom design starts with you — your brand, your customers, and what you're trying to achieve — and is built from scratch to serve those specific needs. The result is a website that feels genuinely yours rather than borrowed, and one that works harder for your business because every decision was deliberate.

You're involved at the key decision points, not buried in the details. We handle all the design work and present clear options for you to review and respond to. The most important input comes at the beginning — the discovery workshop where we learn about your business and audience — and at the design review stage where you give feedback on direction. You don't need design experience to contribute meaningfully; we ask the right questions to draw out what we need.

No problem. Many businesses come to us with an existing logo but no formal brand guide — and some are starting from scratch. We can work with what you have, formalise your existing visual identity into a consistent system, or refer you to our brand strategy service where we develop your identity from the ground up before the website design begins. Starting with a strong, defined brand always produces a better website outcome.

Our process is structured to minimise the need for extensive revisions — because we do thorough discovery upfront and get clear directional sign-off before building full designs. Most projects include two rounds of revisions on the visual designs before development begins. Additional revisions beyond the agreed scope are quoted separately. In our experience, clients who engage fully in the discovery and mood board stages rarely need more than minor tweaks at the design review.

Absolutely — and not just "good enough" but genuinely designed for mobile. We take a mobile-first approach, which means the mobile experience is considered from the very beginning of the design process rather than being an afterthought. For most of our clients, more than half of their website traffic comes from mobile devices. We design and test across a range of screen sizes to ensure the experience is excellent on everything from a small phone to a large desktop monitor.

Two websites can look similar on the surface but be completely different under the hood. A custom-coded theme means the code was written specifically for your design — so there's no excess bloat from template features you don't use, no conflicting styles from generic CSS frameworks overriding each other, and no security vulnerabilities from unused plugins carrying the weight of your site. The practical result is a faster, more secure, and more maintainable website that behaves exactly as designed across every browser and device.

A typical custom website design and build takes 6–10 weeks from discovery workshop to launch, depending on the size and complexity of the project. The timeline is also influenced by how quickly content and feedback is provided — projects where the client is engaged and responsive move significantly faster. We provide a clear project timeline at the start and keep you updated throughout so there are no surprises.
